Wired or weird ?

A paper, a presentation and a final exam contributed about one third each to the final mark.

Verkehrte Welt

General

Valérie Gay and  Peter Leijdekkers presented the latest trends and technologies in the broad field of data communication. An emphasis was put on recent developments to enhance mobile and wireless devices - such as UMTS and WLAN.

Advanced Data Communications

I chose to write a short paper on the topic Multimedia Streaming On Mobile Phones.

The  abstract:
In this paper, I evaluate the opportunities and challenges of streaming multimedia content on mobile phones from the technical, commercial and social point of view. A summary of the used MPEG technology and its modifications for mobile phones, such as real-time requirements, power consumption and enhanced error detection are presented. Finally, I examine major problems of user interface on small devices and how to overcome them.
The paper is available for  download as well as the  presentation.

Fair Play

Just a short reminder: these documents must not be used by current  UTS students (according to the strict rules of the university).

I also like to mention that almost all search engines fully indexed these documents. Escpecially  TurnItIn - used by some faculty members - scans my website regularly. Any copying will be immediately detected by the academic staff of UTS.
